This is a huge brass microscope on a solid brass stand signed, "A. Pritchard 162 Fleet Street London A 109." It was most likely produced between 1836 and 1840 (Microscopes from the Frank Collection 1800-1860 p. 37). The finish is very worn. Does not bear signs of buffing. One objective is mounted on the device, along with one eyepierce, one mirror on an arm in line with the tube, and one condensor mounted on a separate swinging arm. The stage is complete and includes stage clips and a simple means of mechanical adjustment. |
