Notes |
The case has an elaborately etched lock plate which does nothing for its authenticity. The back of the box has a deep cut in it. This was done intentionally so that the device could fit. The finish on the bix is quite clear and the lock functions. There are three drawers in the case. Two small ones at the top which are both empty. The bottom drawer contains 5x lenses and 1x eyepiece which may be attached to the microscope, along with 3x botanical slides, 1x glass tube with two corks in either end, 1x slide forcep, 1 pair tweezers, 1x fish plate, 1x lens in bell shaped holder, 1x brush, 1x leaflet. The microscope itself is monocular and can be assembled into numerous configurations. The device has a tripod base with two wooden rings surrounding the connection to the tube. Both wood rings are split. The finish if very bright with some tarnishing. Lens is set in a wooden eyepiece with a second glass lens at the base of the tube. Rotating mirror on bottom has its own mounting arm. tube adjusted vertically via a small knob. Metal tab inside lower portion of tube has rusted. |
