This is a tiny simple microscope made of wood. It is in the online catalog of Replica Rara as an early 19th Century device, but does not bear any production marks; device consists of darkly finished closed-grain wood; base is rounded and slopes back to central pin; objective is mounted in a round wooden disc mounted atop the base; outer edge has a dual layer of textured serrations; brass wire mounted to base serves as mounting point for items under veiw; curved into three large waves before ending in a sharp point in front of objective; objective itself is held in place by a small brass ring. |

This is a tiny wood (ebony?) microscope with a tiny lens held in place by a brass ring similar to those found in botanical slides. There is a wire bent into a wavy pattern with a sharp point to whcih the object being viewed was mounted. The device is unsigned but functional. It was donated along with a display case complete with wooden stand and glass cover. |
