Tonsillotome. Nickel-plated steel instrument has two spade-shaped blades; stationary posterior blade has oval fenestration at distal end; anterior blade has sharp distal tip that slides over oval fenestration on posterior blade with guillotine action. Universal handle (Ballenger-type) is fitted to blade and secured by two small screws. |
